Format
The first stage is a round-robin with four to six players in a group on one court playing doubles. Players will be paired with a different partner in each set. To keep things moving, play seven games per set with one point per player per game won, so a maximum of seven points to be won. If games go to deuce the next point after a second deuce is the decider. That prevents sets over-running.
Example with five players:
Game 1 | A&B vs C&D |
Game 2 | A&C vs E&D |
Game 3 | A&D vs B&E |
Game 4 | A&E vs B&C |
Game 5 | B&D vs E&C |
The highest scorer from each group will go through to a semi-final, and depending on the number of players we may also ask runners up with the highest scores to play in the semi finals.
First rounds to start at 9.30 and finish at 11.45
The semi-finals and finals will be held at Budock Vean and the approximate timings are:
12.00 Men’s and Women’s Semi finals
13.00 Mixed doubles final
Please come along and support these games if you can.
Weather
If the weather forecast shows heavy rain all morning I will cancel by 8.30am. I will e-mail everyone and will ask one person from each court to contact the others. If you haven’t heard anything by 8.50 assume we are still playing.
Contingency Plan
We will try again on the Sunday, please let me know if you cannot play on Sunday morning.
Lunch
We will get pasties delivered for about 12.30 – please let me know if you would rather have a vegetarian or gluten-free pasty. Please bring your own drinks and, if possible, something sweet to share.
Parking
Parking space can be quite limited at the Hotel. If at all possible, please arrange to share a car with another player in your group.
