We had a perfect day for the first tournament at our new home.

In the women’s game played at Budock Vean we had a round robin format of doubles pairings with hard-fought, well played games. In the semifinal Angela Dilks and Cate Jones displayed good teamwork to win the best of seven matches over Eleanor Slade and Kate Hellyar.

Over at Porth Sawsen the men’s half of the tournament saw Charles Richardson and Chris Slade emerge as the winners after a fine series of matches.

The final was a great match to watch for the audience in their front row pavilion seats. Angela Dilks and Charles Richardson played Cate Jones and Chris Slade. Angela was on very consistent form and Charles used his backhand slice to very good effect. Cate and Chris played some stunning points, but eventually Angela and Charles won the set 6-3.

Afterwards we all enjoyed pasties and lemon cake courtesy of Claire.

Well done to everyone who played on Saturday who made it such an enjoyable occasion!
